"Belle"
10yr old Belgian mare - in foal to Spinny (will have a guaranteed buckskin foal)
Belle is a nearly 18h Belgian mare that is very gentle. Today is the first time we asked her to do anything but eat and be pretty.
She was said to ride and drive but we have just had her as a big pet and we bred her to our Perlino AQHA stallion this spring, and she is due to have a guaranteed buckskin baby Spring of 2026.
We've had her since August 2024, when we got her she did have a heavy bout of cellulitis in her back left leg, we cleared that up completely but there is still size to the leg it has not gone down, unfortunately that is a common side effect of recurrent UNTREATED cellulitis - we treated it and she has not had any flare ups or episodes, and is comfortable and has continued to be since last fall.
She travels comfortable and it does not bother her, she is 10 or under, her teeth look like she is probably eight or nine. She has good feet, especially for a draft. All the pictures and videos were taken this evening.
She is gentle on the ground, easy to groom/good for the farrier and she even bagged up and let my weanling nurse last year and became his surrogate/foster mom after his mama passed away unexpectedly.
This mare is gentle under saddle and these pictures were all taken in July 2025. She crossed the wooden bridge and rode off away from the other horses like a pro. While we are not selling her specifically as a rider, because of that leg, I do not think it would hinder her to ride occasionally or follow along on the trails. We worked her Thursday and again Saturday and she had no additional swelling or discomfort out of that leg and is on no meds or supplements at all.
She does come with a live foal guarantee like all of our bred mares do. Let me know if you would like to come meet Belle. She is currently priced at 3k
