Marty - 12 year old Quarter Horse Gelding
$4500
This is “Marty” he is a 12(now coming 13) year old Quarter Horse gelding
Here’s the good things about him:
- super safe, been there done that trail horse, rather unflappable
- safe with dogs running around him
- crosses water
- traffic doesn’t phase him
- rides alone or with a group
- more whoa than go, he's more of a kick ride but you don't have to peddle him
- responds verbally to clucks, clicks, easy and whoa
- ties to anything’s, even ground ties
- hobbles
- carrys saddlebags and trail bags
- can cracka bull whip on him and push horses or pony them
- drags logs etc.
- easy to catch
- easy to blanket
- tacks up quietly
- can practice rope the dummy
- smooth jog, trot and lope
- no vices
- easy to get along with other horses
- sound legs and mind
- I've been feeding him up since I bought him back at the beginning of the summer and you can pull him right out of the stall and get on him with no lunging after sitting for months
- 15.2hh
- wearsa 78” blanket
- he's not been through the Sale barn or passed around, he's been on my farm consistently for 7 months
The “not as good” about Marty:
- I had this horse about four years ago and I bought him back at the beginning of the summer in rough rough shape, been picking his weight up ever since it's finally coming along (omalene 200) he still needs more muscle and topline but it’s coming
- he did have a Stonebruise come up and caused some problems about October but that is healed up now and he's good video and pictures were taken today, January 13th
- he really doesn't know what the ring is about. He will ride in the ring but he's like a colt like a “wet noodle” he doesn't understand to stay on the rail - he doesn't really know what a lead is, or to set his head but there is potential there
- he doesn't understand headset fully he'll go to the bit but then he just goes back to where he’d rather hold it LOL, like he doesn't really “understand” the act of collection and headset and rounding I guess you could say, but he is consistent and does really speed up or slow down once you have him “In gear”
- he will stay in whichever“gear” you put him in, walk-jog-trot-lope-canter but would rather go slowest possible if it's up to him
- he’s not registered as he slipped through the registration cracks, he was supposed to have been a Paint horse he just didn't get the color, so he is grade, more than welcome to have him genetic disease tested and Sale contingent upon satisfactory results, I haven't done so but also he has not shown any signs whatsoever of any of the traditional triggers such as HYPP, PSSM, IMM, etc
- he's wearing two shoes on the front, barefoot the back, because of his nutritional imbalance for however long you will see that in his feet and you can see the new current healthy growth coming down from his Coronet band since I've had him back but you may have to deal with some not a great feet for the next few farrier sessions
