New Partner Litters are here!!! (families used our males for the pairing) pups will come with 100% Double Creek Guarantees (available pups are below, at the top of the picture thread)
We raise AKC Poodles, and Jack Russell Shorties here at Double Creek Farm!
Jack Russell "Shorties" aka "Russell Terriers"
(Scroll down to see available pups and skip the write up) These pups are short legged "puddin jacks", SMOOTH coated "russell terriers", that usually mature 5-8" tall at the wither. They are raised in our home and socialized extensively at the farm and are great additions to your family. I recently acquired these beautiful russell terriers from my friend Debbie (Heart and Soul Jack Russells was the name of her kennel) when she passed away earlier this year. She left me several from her program to continue her lines that she had worked nearly 40 years in developing.
One of the BIG differences in her dogs and this program is the soundness, conformation and "correctness" of the structure. Not only are they short legged, they are also very stout/stocky and have great angles, the back is not excessively long, the legs do not turn outward with poor posture, the heads are blocky and the ear set is tight and balanced. Many dogs over the years in various programs sacrifice one of those characteristics - or many - to achieve the smaller stature. These are NOT rat terriers, they do NOT have chihuahua influence, they do not have the apple heads and tiny muzzles, or the little fox ears, and their bone structure is substantial. They are miniaturized versions of the Jack Russells from England.
She was very picky and extremely persistent on producing quality conformation, extreme loyalty and willingness to learn, all coupled with quiet dispositions - and selected only those that met ALL of those criteria to continue to produce in her program.
These are assertive but not aggressive dogs, disposition and "grittiness" is genetic, and it is very important to select dogs with what your intent for them will be when you are looking to add one to your family. Over the years, the genetics pull through and have an extreme influence on the disposition and "grittiness" of these dogs and it passes down from the parents to the puppies, as well as the environment. How they are raised plays a big role as well - but the FIRST step is having even tempered, good minded parents to start with.
I am working hard on getting all the paperwork situated, Debbie was a great breeder but she mainly sold her puppies into "pet" homes and did not transfer or register much of her lineage from when she bought them to the many many years and multiple generations, so I have been having to go through her records and go back and register multiple generations to get the current registrations for the litters, because of this and because it is pending not secured, and we are also completing genetic testing and disease panels on the dogs as well.

How will I know if a Russell Terrier is a good fit for my family?
If you have never owned a terrier before, as I had not until Debbie gifted one to me in 2024, and then I ended up with her other dogs - let me tell you its not exactly like what everyone says. I was always told they ere "hyper" and "bounce off the walls" and "super hyper" and "hard headed"...let me give you an honest take, at least on THESE particular dogs. They are VERY VERY loyal. At first, they can be shy. Puppies likely won't go through that but this was a HUGE change from going "away" from their "mama Debbie" and over to my place. Some stuck to me like glue(think - can't keep them away from you unless you crate them or lock in the other room) some were really shy, not mean, just unsure and really scared. It took them a few weeks to a month to warm up to my boyfriend. This is a socialization thing too though, and that's part of our puppy culture program - getting your pup used to noises, other dogs, people, all that makes a difference. They are HUGE snuggle bugs. They love and crave attention. They want to please soooo much, they try to stay one step ahead of you just so you can tell them "they are soooo good babiessss". The puppies for instance - are super dooper smart. I mean they watch mom go to the pee pad, and then when they get their little legs a moving up under them they get up in the morning and march right over to the pee pad like big boys and girls do. They are very clean, they don't step in their stuff and like to stay clean. These do anyway. They are already eating hard puppy kibble. They completely skipped the wet soft mash and went straight to the hard stuff. No biggie. They love to play tug of war with each other, and the toys are nice, but they LOVE socks. Like the little fluffy house socks, I tie my old ones in a knot and they love it. They sleep through the night, and they will wake up when they hear a noise. They are very intelligent dogs, they can tell if someone comes here in a certain sounding vehicle and then that changes they know who it is by what it sounds like. I used the E collar ONE time on my male, and now he just has to have his collar on and he listens, checks in every five minutes to "see if I need him" and wants to be my shadow. They kinda pick their person. Here anyway. I feed them, but my boyfriend comes in the after working from outside and they want his attention. We have 3 terrier girls in the house (Piper, Dora and Mystic) and one male, Ghostie. I use the male wraps with a diaper for Ghostie because he's intact and I don't like male wee in my house, but he goes over to the pad and "tries" to use it ... even though his goes in a diaper.
If you are looking for a shadow, that's very VERY intelligent, practically train themselves, loyal and sturdy fast little boogers take a look at these guys. My male Ghostie acts like a pitbull hes a big baby squishy faced mamas boy. LOL.
What about Mystics "Merle" color? Isnt that not recognized in the russell terriers?
Merle is not traditionally a color in the jack russells and is not recognized by the AKC, because it was not present in the original lines. Years of breeding (nearly 40 years) has changed lots of things over time though and Mystic does carry Merle but she is full jack russell.
She is CKC registered and they do accept merle coloration.
I thought Jack Russell Terriers were really REALLY hyper dogs. Are these not hyper?
While some bloodlines and genetics are more prone to producing extremely energetic "hyper" dogs which can be great for hunting, trapping and "going to ground" the lines Debbie used over the years were "quieter" dogs. She wanted to produce dogs that could go out all day and be right by your side on the farm, or at the horse show, or in the field and then come home and come inside and be well mannered and snuggle. These dogs do have energy, but they are NOT the traditional bounce - off - the - wall kind of lines like some produce.
What is a "full circle guarantee" that you are mentioning?
A full circle guarantee means that if ANY time you decide a dog, horse, or anything produced by Double Creek Farm is not a good fit for your family, you can ALWAYS bring them back here and we can place them in a loving home, or be that home for them until then. This way there is no reason dogs should ever bounce around or end up in the shelter. You bought them, we don't have strings attached to where you can't sell your animals, but we just ask that if you can't keep them and have a hard time placing them in a better suited environment that you allow us the chance to be that middle ground for them. Its the least we can do for bringing living creatures into this world, is to make sure they are loved and taken care of. Thats one of the reasons we have so many!
Ok, I want to proceed ... how can I purchase a puppy?
We have a few options on purchasing puppies from our program. You can come meet available puppies in person and reserve them with a deposit if they are not ready to leave mom yet, and deposits are 1/2 of the purchase price. You can also opt to reserve via video and/or pictures, if distance or travel to see the pup is an issue, we can facetime you or video chat call you to show you available puppies. For litters already here, I go live on Tuesdays on Facebook as well.
How do I pay for a puppy or send a deposit?
I have a grooming shop in town, Happy Tails Grooming in Dobson, and you can send payment through my shop link (which is square, will add a 3% service fee on credit or debit card purchases) you can opt for payments through that pay system as well, as long as the puppys purchase price is completed by the time you pick them up that is no problem. We take cash (you will get a contract as a reciept) on site if you come to the farm to look and reserve pups, we also can take cashapp and paypal (3% fee).
What if I do not want a puppy with a docked tail?
If you would like a puppy with a natural tail (taildocking and dew claw removal is our standard practice) you will need to pay for your puppy in full within 3 days of being born. You can reserve a future planned puppy by placing a $500 deposit, which can go towards your pairing choice from an upcoming litter, and would allow you your spot "in line" depending on if others have choice deposits in front of you, after the farm's pick (we reserve the right to hold back a pup for our program from any litter) and your deposit will go in full towards the price of your puppy, and can be transferred to other litters as needed if desired.
What will my puppy have when I get them from you at weaning?
Your puppy will have its first set of puppy shots given by us at six weeks of age, and a second set at 8 weeks. They are ready to go home at 8 weeks, but if you are looking at older puppies from the program we also give shots at 10 and 12 weeks as well. We worm the puppies with Nemex 2 and Panacur, and alternate with the weeks that they get the shots, and start worming at 4 weeks of age. Your puppy will come with a bag of food, what we feed here, puppy food from Diamond, and you can change them over to another kind once you get them by mixing what we send half and half with what you desire to feed them when you get home. You will have a sheet that instructs you when to give your next shots (if needed) and/or worming, that you can give to your vet to set up a wellness plan going forward.
What is the health guarantee you offer for puppies in your program?
At Double Creek Farm, we guarantee puppies to be healthy when you pick them up. They do need to go to the vet on the scheduled intervals to finish their shots and worming, but, if something should happy to your puppy here before you take it home, you can have the option to transfer your deposit to another puppy or towards one from an upcoming litter. If something should happen to your puppy once you get them home, that the vet you take them to concurs was due to a genetic default, or something that happened in our care, you will get the choice for another puppy or another pup from an upcoming litter. If the vet agrees that it is not something genetic or caused by anything here, the choice to keep the puppy and pay the vet bills will be your decision, or, we can opt to take the puppy back and give you a credit towards another puppy of your choice. The parents of the puppies are all vaccinated and wormed and kept on a flea preventative in our rotation.
What about papers for my puppy?
All puppies will be eligible for CKC registration, we are working on the rest of the mamas to get everything straight from were Debbie passed away. These above litters will be registered when the paperwork is completed. We also plan to add additional AKC females into our program at some time, and offer stud service for the males at the farm.
We currently have at stud :
DCF Fiddlestix - AKC and CKC red and white, slightly broken coated male
DCF Ghost Malone - CKC extreme piebald (white, no merle carrier) male
DCF Bandit Jr - Black headed tricolor male
DCF Sir Paddington - Cream and White male
