I rode this mare last weekend and she was great. Shes in season, but caught out of the pasture easily...she stood tied to the trailer while we saddled other horses, then I saddled her, put my saddlebags and gear on and hopped on to start the ride. We left the barn with 6 other horses, and she could care less about being in the back. Rode right next to the road with cars going both ways. Wasnt the least bit moody about anything. Crossed the road, had a nice little jog-trot going, and the saddlebags didnt bother her one bit rattling around. We crossed through lots of briar filled trails and she pushed right on through. Crossed ditches and creeks just fine, even the deep ones. Rode all day just peachy. Smooth to ride, easy to sit, and you just lean forward and press with your leg and she will pick up and lope nicely. We rode some of the power line trails and then stopped at the general store, tied to the hitching rail and went in to eat lunch. She stood there just as quiet as a 10 yr old horse. We have some video footage of the trail ride that Ill load soon. I like this mare. Shes smart, and willing.
"Chick" has a lot of sense. She has had some ringwork and was started by a college in NY probably english. Lately she has mostly been used on the trails and is very quiet. She pastures easily and has no problem in the stall. Doesnt get rattled by much and she will walk, trot, jog, and take her leads and the lope. Shes working on a headset but hasnt been asked for one on the trail. She flexes nicely both sides and has a soft mouth. I trail rode her in a snaffle. This mare was a personal horse of a friend of mine for a year. She rode her all over and is safe on the trail even at her age. A rider with just a little knowledge could ride and handle this mare with no problems. Sound, with no vices
Smooth to ride, and stands 14.3h(this was taken at the beginning of 2010)
Sheds out to a bay roan in the spring/summer(see pics)
